What a time to be a Texan UFC fan.

  •  Ryan Spann in the co-main this week.
  • Jonathan Martinez gets a huge opportunity against Aldo in the co-main event of 301 next week.
  • A Texas takeover in St. Louis with 4 fighters including the main and co-main events.
  • 5 Texans on the May 18th Apex card.
  • Joshua Van (hopefully) and Alex Moreno on UFC 302.
  • 4 Texans in Louisville
  • Macy Chiasson at 303.
  • Daniel Pineda at 304.

Fair enough but you better finesse a good marriage contract out of it then because he'll divorce you when you're 35-40 years old. :)

Man I ******* hate when bookies tell me my stake is over the allowed limit without telling me what that limit is. So I'm sat just trying lower and lower amounts until they either accept or as has happened on occasion the bet is completely blocked with the odds removed, possibly from thinking I'm some bot from all the input spam.

How about just tell me how many peanuts I'm allowed to wager or ban me.

that's weird ... is that a common thing? does the limit change arbitrarily even within the same sportsbook? like from one weekend to the next?

Use a different sports book

@Gregory
This is a regular occurrence for me - Let me give some examples

Say I attempt a 5K wager on a (-247) favorite (using one sports book in particular)
  -  Sometimes they accept it.
  - Most times they send a 'negotiated offer' back at something very specific - '$2454.92'. This specific amount tells me there is some algorithmic calculation going on. So I take it. Then say later that day the line has moved from (-247) to now (-355). I bet another $1.5K. They accept.

Say I attempt a wager of 5K on a (+200) prop bet
- They may come back with a 'negotiated offer' of $300.

Side note - there was a sports book that was giving me 'negotiated limits' so low and so often, I stopped using them for over a year or so. I randomly tried to use them again and I am NOT getting declined on anything. Definitely something worth noting

got it yeah.  Would that ever happen on bigger fights with more action, like main events? Or just prelims?

it happens on any fight, prelims or main card, the rate or amount they decline it is always different, I assume depending on whatever their algorithm is calculated at,  given the bets coming in and what the lines are at that specific moment

The fact that in gliese’s case, no negotiated number is offered, it tells me they don’t have an algorithm ready to go. That sounds incompetent to me. I’m actually feeling a lot better about the sports books I’m using now that I think of it, even though I find these negotiated wager limits annoying

It 's different from book to book but two of the ones I currently use don't offer a wager at all and they both have wildly varying limits from case to case so I can't even have an educated guess of what an individual limit is going to be.
Other books do the same but only for livebetting where it seems that they lower the limit based on the odds. For example I was only allowed to bet $10 on Chepe Mariscal when he was +1600 but the same book will set a limit at $150 or $200 on many other occasions where I bet live.
Now you'd think it's a very small book that has Mariscal hit +1600 in a match like that but it's really not, it's one of the biggest books in Europe. They just have very loose live odds.

I have other books that behaves like Kniferusty describes where they will always fire back with a maximum allowed wager to a very specific amount down to the cent (or öre as we call the smallest denomination in Sweden) which seems to indicate it's an automated formula of some kind.
I've also had the same experience of getting my limits raised a bit (though not dramatically) when I drastically lowered my use of a site and some times had passed.

Charlie Ontiveros might be the worst grappler I have ever seen in a cage. I was rewatching his fight with Gabriel Benitez and I still can’t believe what I’m looking at.

Imagine dropping down from middleweight to lightweight to fight a featherweight, having a 76’ reach with a 6’2 height advantage, and you still got taken down and ground & pounded in three minutes by a man who theoretically weighs sixty pounds less than you on an average fight day, and barely even uses his jiujitsu credentials aggressively in 85% of his fights. That’s genuinely unbelievable to me.

Ontiveros UFC "career" was a pretty good example of bad fight IQ

It’s not even fight IQ related, it’s like he has some kind of prescribed disability for grappling. There should be an official diagnoses for his jiujitsu incompetency…
